The base fee to create a token is typically 0.05 SOL. This covers the cost of on-chain transactions and token account creation. Additional fees may apply if you choose to revoke authorities (approximately 0.1 SOL per authority revoked). All fees are denominated in SOL and will be deducted from your connected wallet.
Freeze Authority allows the token creator to freeze (lock) holders' token accounts, preventing them from trading. Revoking this authority is highly recommended because it increases trust in your token. When you revoke Freeze Authority, holders know that no one can freeze their accounts, making your token safer and more appealing to investors. Most successful projects revoke this authority.
Mint Authority allows you to create new tokens after the initial supply. Revoking it means no new tokens can ever be created, fixing the token supply permanently. This is beneficial because it guarantees to investors that the token won't be inflated with new supply. A fixed supply increases scarcity and investor confidence in the long-term value of your token.
Update Authority lets you change your token's name, symbol, description, and image after creation. Revoking it locks your metadata permanently, preventing any changes. This increases trust by showing investors that your token information is permanent and cannot be secretly modified. It's especially important for projects promising transparency and immutability.
After creating your token, you can add liquidity on decentralized exchanges (DEXs) like Raydium or Orca. Visit their websites, connect your wallet, and create a liquidity pool by pairing your token with SOL. Provide equal value of both tokens to the pool. In return, you'll receive LP tokens. Always ensure you trust the DEX and double-check contract addresses to avoid scams.
